The 1990s saw the most rapid growth in computing that the world will ever see.
Email was improving and advancing, and Briton, Tim Burners Lee invented the World Wide Web, and both Lycos and Alta Vista were introduced into usage just prior to this film’s release.
It was important to provide a role for the biggest technological revolution in the history of mankind. To ignore it would have been a little odd for a franchise that prides itself on being at the cutting edge of technology.
So, as a historical snapshot of Russia at the time, 1995, saw Isabella Scorupco, in her role as Natalya Simonova venture into a Russian Computer Shop and make a bogus request for, “IBM compatible with 500 megahertz drives, CD Roms and 134 modems.”
