Credit Card Swipe Machine
Talking of bits of kit that you wouldn’t really have in your Top Ten list of requirements for a spy field trip...
007 has a Louis Vuitton credit card swipe machine device that enables him to swipe over a cheque to get a perfect copy of the previous cheque written in the chequebook.
It was presumed that it featured ultra violet light to read the previously written material, but in actuality, as Bond turns the cheque over you can clearly see it is nothing more than a brass plate – so unless there was some sort of photocopier hidden in the device, it was rather silly.
We will however, work on the generous notion that it operated in the same fashion as a hand-held scanning device, and as that was still a few years away from being technologically reliable, it was a great gadget!
