Nuclear Bomb Detonator
In a completely uncontrolled environment, Bond elects to remove a nuclear missile’s detonator to make a DIY explosive powerful enough to make a mess of Stromberg’s lair.
Health and Safety just wouldn’t allow those sorts of shenanigans these days.
However, the key acronym here is 'DIY'. You can't help thinking that often there are far more gadgets than Q Branch need to supply, and possibly not quite enough on-the-fly device making by our spy hero.
The proper terminology for a Nuclear Bomb Detonator is an Exploding Bridge Wire, which uses an alternative physical mechanism to the blasting caps more commonly used in bombs. Much more electricity is required so it is delivered much more rapidly. It also needs to explode with more precise timing after the electric current is applied.
