The World Is Not Enough Gadgets

Torture Chair

Picture
Elektra describes an Istanbul archaeological dig which saw the discovery of some “very pretty vases” and they also found a rather scary looking torture chair.
Unfortunately, she did not describe the repair and refinishing process that had returned the medieval looking device to its former glory, but she did reveal it from beneath a tablecloth with great enthusiasm.
It was a bit of a throwback to Bonds movies of the past - almost Goldfinger Laser Table in its torturous intent. It is always nice to see 007 looking around desperately for something, or someone, to save him in his last few seconds of life. Little did viewers know, it would be an enemy turned friend, see below...
Getting back to the Torture Chair...
It was a fairly simple process. You secure the victim’s arms with the attached shackles and wrap a larger version around the neck. There is a sort of capstan’s wheel at the back which, when rotated, tightens the collar around the neck until the spine is plunged into the neck.
All proving, the old ways can be the best. X-Ray Specs, I ask ya.

Cane Gun

Picture
First seen in the 1954 television version of Casino Royal (you can read our report on the device HERE), Valentin Zukovsky has a Cane Gun.
He shoots Bond’s shackles with his single shot to set off the final act of the film.
Great stuff and a brilliant homage.
