The opening sequence of the movie includes a rather ingenious, but odd gadget.
Bond has a self destruct gun that is detonated via an internal button on his glasses.
The gun doesn’t have an explosive it has a surprise flash of smoke and bright light - A sort of disorienting stun gun, if you will.
It makes sense that the gun doesn’t explode, but you would imagine that had Q branch developed such a device, it would have been with an eye on it being thrown at an adversary after the round had depleted. That sort of thing.
Only on an occasion like this would a strange smoke bomb effect be required. Ah, but that is the quality of the intelligence and the preparation at Mi6, I hear you say.
