Moon Buggy
When 007 escapes Willard Whyte’s Tectronics Test Facility he bounds onto a testing studio that features a moon simulated landscape.
This was a clear nod to the rumours of the ‘faked’ moon landing of 1969. Bond then uses a rather erm, basic looking moon buggy to affect his escape.
Still, Sean Connery obviously liked it, despite the wheel that flew off during filming (you can clearly see it rolling around in front of a flipping chase car, before the next shot shows its full complement of four wheels); he paid $54,000 to add it to his collection in 2004.
It had previously been used as an exhibit at the Caesar’s Palace Casino restaurant in Las Vegas.
